The
University of Chile is a traditional public university and Chile, considered
complex because of its size research in various areas of knowledge. It was
created by law on November 19, 1842 and installed on September 17, 1843. Its
Headquarters and most of its facilities are located in the city of Santiago de
Chile.
Created after
the reform Republican colonial Royal University of San Felipe, 2 and set as its
legal successor, owns a rich academic history, politics and cultural
activities, so helping in the development of the culture of Chile from its
creation until today.
In the
ranking of 2009 by the magazine AméricaEconomÃa, the University of Chile won
first place at the rankinges nacional.9 Another of Webometrics (year 2009),
which ranked first in Chile, one quarter of America America and 229 to level
mundial.10 Moreover, in the performance ranking of scientific papers, published
in 2008 by the Board of Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education of
Taiwan, and it occupies first place in Chile and 378. ° mundial.11 level According
to the ranking of The Mercury, also ranks first among the universities in the
country.12
In the 2011
ranking of the Ranking Web of World Universities, 13 were ranked as the sixth
best university throughout Latin America and the first nationally.
